January 21, 2026, my daughter Lisa's 32nd birthday and her due date is in 8 days. On whatever date "Bump" is born, that will be the day we become Grandparents for the first time. I'm so very excited and looking forward to it so much. I've always loved babies. My mom said that I used to ask if we could get one at the grocery store when I saw someone with one in their grocery cart. As an 8 or 10 year old or so, I remember spending the whole evening carting around a house guest's baby, happy as can be. Then when I was a bit older and thru my teens, I babysat a lot. I've always loved babies and young kids.
When I had my own, I really, really loved that newborn stage; the really young, snuggly babies. Their smell, their soft skin and oh so silky hair; and all the adorable little noises they make. I kind of thought I would never stop wanting to have another but common sense prevails.
So, here I sit, anxiously anticipated the joyous event that will soon take place. I know Lisa is looking forward to it too and it will be fun seeing her take on this new role; my baby girl, now the mother.
She and Max are all ready; bag packed, diapers bought and night light ready. Let the whirlwind begin!
